Communications Center
The Communications Center operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year and serves as a point of contact for all calls requesting GBI information or services to include critical and time sensitive information to law enforcement, media outlets, and the general public. The Communications Center is staffed with Communication Equipment Officers who respond to more than 250 telephone calls, 100 radio transmissions and numerous email and teletype messages during an average work day.
One of the primary functions of the Communications Center is to respond to requests from GBI Agents for inquiries of computerized databases. The Communications Center manages the GBI Tip Line receiving all calls, then dispatching to the appropriate GBI unit for handling. The Communications Center also plays a major role in the GBI’s Public Alert System, supporting Levi’s, Mattie’s and Kimberly’s Calls.
